The upper reaches of the N Prong Medina River dominate this portion of the Texas Hill Country, where numerous spring-fed creeks carve deep into the plateau. Hidden within the steep drainage of Clark Cr are distinctive hydrological landmarks such as Devils Bathtub Spring, Dripping Spring, and Walnut Spring. These water sources were historically vital for ranching and early settlement in Bandera County, as evidenced by the local road network that often follows the contours of the limestone terrain or the narrow valley floors.
