About this map

The winding Sulphur River marks the southern boundary of this 1965 survey, separating Red River and Titus counties. The landscape of Shawnee Prairie is characterized by its numerous family cemeteries and small rural congregations, including Shawnee Ch and the Shawnee Chapel Cem. These burial grounds, such as Wooten Cem, Dillard Cem, and Tucker Cem, are scattered across the terrain, often located near the many creeks that drain toward the river, including Dillard Creek and Shawnee Creek.
