Mantador and the small settlement of Bayne occupy the center of this Richland County landscape, where the agricultural grid is broken only by the meandering paths of the Wild Rice River and the S Br Antelope Cr. The southwestern corner is dominated by the Sheyenne National Grassland, also labeled as the Sheyenne NG, which preserves a portion of the tallgrass prairie ecosystem. Local history is anchored by Calvary Cem just west of the Mantador townsite. The infrastructure reflects a strictly organized rural section system, with numbered routes like 86th St SE and 164th Ave SE providing the primary transit network between the dispersed farmsteads and the central rail-aligned villages.
