McGinnis Meadows and Jefferson Meadows anchor this high-altitude landscape where the boundaries of the Kootenai National Forest, Lolo National Forest, and Kaniksu National Forest converge. The topography is defined by the sharp elevations of the Cabinet Mountains, rising toward Davis Peak and Border Peak. This area serves as a significant drainage divide for numerous alpine water systems, including the namesake Mantrap Fork and the winding Fishtrap Creek.
