Maple Peak rises as the central landmark of this high-desert landscape in Juab County, marking the transition between the Sheeprock Mountains to the northwest and the West Tintic Mountains to the east. The terrain is defined by rugged drainage networks, most notably the seasonal flow of Cherry Creek and its associated Cherry Cr Reservoir. These water sources, along with the secluded Mud Spring, historically dictated the movement of livestock and travelers through this arid portion of the Great Basin.
