Mapleton serves as the primary hub in this southern Blue Earth County landscape, positioned where MN-22 and MN-30 intersect. The town's layout is centered around Central Ave N and Central Ave S, with local services such as the Po located in the core. The surrounding countryside is defined by the winding course of the Cobb River and its tributary, the Little Cobb River, which snake through the northern and eastern sections of the quadrangle. Several historic burial grounds are dispersed across the township, including Union Cem and Calvary Cem near the town center, and the more distant Beauford Cem to the northeast. To the south, the Maple River cuts across the corner of the map, while Perch Lake and Knights Lake provide significant water features in an area otherwise dominated by a precise grid of rural township roads.
