Margaretville sits at the convergence of the East Branch Delaware River and its upland tributaries, serving as a focal point for the valley’s community and transportation networks. The terrain is defined by steep ridges and narrow hollows, such as Canada Hollow and Bragg Hollow, where historical settlement patterns followed the winding course of the Platte Kill and Tremper Kill. To the north, the small hamlet of New Kingston remains a quiet interior settlement, flanked by several family and community burial grounds including Archibald Cem and Van Benschoten Cem. Significant elevation changes are marked by prominent summits like Mt Pisgah and Pakatakan Mtn, which overlook the northern reaches of the Pepacton Reservoir at Dunraven.
