Martin Lake sits at the center of this northern Montana landscape, defined by a series of glacial erosional features and seasonal watercourses. The terrain is deeply inscribed by several distinct coulees, including Barton Coulee to the northwest and Martin Lake Coulee, which channel drainage toward the central basin. These geographical depressions, along with Dry Sag Coulee, create a complex network of relief across the high plains.
