The borderlands of Washtenaw, Wayne, and Monroe counties are defined by a complex drainage network feeding into the Saline River and Swan Creek. This 2019 survey documents the rural character of southeastern Michigan, centered on the village of Maybee and the historic settlements of Oakville and London. The landscape is a patchwork of small agricultural tracts and drainage improvements like the Big Marsh Drain and Polzin Drain, reflecting over a century of land management in the region.
