The Wrangell Mountains dominate this high-altitude Alaskan landscape, where glacial ice and steep terrain define the topography. In this remote region within the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and the adjacent Wrangell-Saint Elias National Preserve, the massive Chisana Glacier flows across the southern portion of the sheet. The drainage patterns are established by the glacial melt, feeding high-mountain waterways such as Boomerang Creek and Bow Creek.
