McCredie Springs serves as the focal point for this section of the Willamette National Forest, where the thermal waters of McCredie Hot Springs sit along the banks of Salt Creek. The landscape is defined by steep drainage networks including Warner Cr and McCredie Cr, which carve through prominent rises like Bunchgrass Ridge and Kitson Ridge. A notable corridor of transit follows the waterway, evidenced by the Eugene To Pacific Crest route and numerous forest development roads that provide access to remote peaks such as Heckletooth Mtn and Cougar Mtn. In the southern reaches, the terrain levels slightly at Crabapple Prairie near the headwaters of Crabapple Cr, offering a rare open space amid the dense topography of the Cascades.
