Avalitkok Cr meanders through this remote Arctic landscape, defining the primary drainage for the southern half of this North Slope quadrangle. The terrain is characterized by an extensive network of thaw lakes and thermokarst features, typical of the permafrost-underlain tundra. These water bodies vary significantly in size and orientation, illustrating the dynamic nature of the hydrological processes near the northern coast. The Public Land Survey System grid, including t10n r28w, t10n r27w, t9n r28w, and t9n r27w, provides the only formal structural overlay for this largely undisturbed expanse of the Arctic coastal plain.
