Medical Springs and the surrounding high country of the Whitman National Forest define this landscape on the eastern edge of Union County. The settlement at Medical Springs is situated near the Medical Hot Spring, a site long noted for its thermal waters. The geography transitions from the mountainous heights of Frazier Mtn and Reeves Mtn down to the agricultural flats of Sagebrush Flat. Water management is central to the area's development, evidenced by the presence of Wright Ditch and Robertson Ditch, which redirect local flows to support the valley. To the south, Pondosa Pond and Harmon Reservoir provide essential water storage amidst a network of creeks including Big Cr and Catherine Cr. Forest Service development is visible through numerous routes such as Nat For Dev Rd 77, which provide access to timberlands and remote peaks like Bald Hill and Sugarloaf Mtn.
