About this map

Meriden serves as a central hub for this portion of Jefferson and Shawnee Counties, where the upland prairie meets the drainage of the Kansas River basin. The landscape is defined by a dense network of seasonal and perennial streams, including Rock Creek, Muddy Creek, and Tick Creek, which carve gentle valleys across the terrain. These watercourses eventually feed toward the southeast corner of the map, where the waters of Perry Lake begin to emerge.
