Helena National Forest and the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness anchor the southern half of this Montana mountain landscape, where three county lines—Cascade, Lewis and Clark, and Meagher—converge. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevations, from the heights of Moors Mtn and Shellrock Ridge to the deep incisions of Hunters Gulch. A complex drainage network feeds the Missouri River system, led by the West Fork Middle Creek and the southern Beaver Creek.
