The Hualapai Indian Reservation occupies the center of this high-desert plateau, where the Music Mountains rise sharply above the Plain Tank and Flat. This 1960s survey documents a landscape defined by traditional land use and water management in an arid environment. Human history is etched into the terrain at sites like the Pictographs in Box Canyon and identified Graves located south of the main peaks. Economic activity and subsistence are marked by the Horse Trough Mine and several important water sources, including Horse Trough Spring Water Tank, Trail Tank, and Nelson Tank. Transportation across this remote stretch of Mohave County is anchored by the Buck and Doe Road, which skirts the northern edge of the reservation boundary.
