Settlement is sparse, anchored primarily by the Mackelprang Homestead in the eastern foothills. The survival of such outposts depended heavily on the seasonal flow of scattered water features like Chokecherry Spring, Ryan Spring, and Willow Spring. The western portion of the map descends toward Hamlin Valley, while the central drainage of Miners Cabin Wash provides a natural corridor through the difficult topography.
