Lake Pend Oreille dominates the western half of this landscape, its shoreline marked by dramatic landforms such as Echo Rock, Granite Point, and Whiskey Rock. This eastern shore of the lake, situated within the Kaniksu National Forest, reveals a transition from the water's edge to the high elevations of the Bitterroot Range. The interior is defined by sharp vertical relief, including the prominent Minerva Peak and Packsaddle Mountain.
