Independence Cr carves a path through this remote portion of Terrell County, defining the drainage patterns of a landscape marked by deep incisions and high plateaus. The topography is dominated by dramatic erosional features, including the eponymous Mitchell Draw and the aptly named Surveyor Canyon in the northeast corner. These natural corridors dictate the layout of the few human improvements in the area, such as Seventeen Draw and the winding course of Ranch Rd 2400.
