The Coronado National Forest dominates the western portion of this landscape, where the rugged slopes of the Pinaleno Mountains give way to a complex system of arid drainage basins. The area is defined by its dramatic topographic relief, including Owl Canyon, Sycamore Canyon, and Dial Canyon, which all feed into a network of seasonal washes such as Owl Wash and Willow Spring Wash.
