Mineral sits at the heart of this landscape along the border of Baker and Washington Counties, where the rugged canyonlands of the Snake River meet the western edge of the Payette National Forest. This 2017 study illustrates a complex network of drainage systems, including Dennett Creek and Sturgill Creek, that carve through the high elevations of the Hitt Mountains. The terrain is defined by prominent peaks and ridges such as Iron Mountain, Monroe Butte, and the interestingly named Chinamans Hat.
