Mounds sits at a geographic crossroads in eastern Utah, where the Price River winds through high desert terrain. The landscape is defined by its water management and striking geological formations, including the prominent Mounds Reef and the distinctively named Balanced Rock near the southern border. This 2017 survey shows a series of vital water catchments such as Spider Reservoir, Goodwater Reservoir, and Mounds Reservoir, which supported the livestock and settlement needs of this arid region.
