The Yakima Indian Reservation boundary defines the eastern half of this landscape, where the high ice of the Mount Adams Wilderness gives way to alpine meadows and volcanic fields. High-altitude landmarks like The Castle and Pikers Peak overlook a massive system of active ice, including the Klickitat Glacier and Mazama Glacier. Several disputed or historical survey lines, such as the Pecore Line 1920-22 and the Campbell Line 1906-07, are meticulously noted along the reservation border.
