Mount Darwin and the surrounding Sierra Nevada peaks dominate this high-altitude 2012 survey. The landscape is defined by its glacial history, with the Darwin Glacier and Goethe Glacier still present among the jagged summits of Mount Mendel, Mount Lamarck, and Mount Spencer. This region is a major watershed for the Middle Fork Bishop Cr, which is fed by an intricate network of alpine basins including the Fishgut Lakes, Schober Lakes, and Hell Diver Lakes.
