Boise National Forest encompasses this alpine landscape along the border of Boise and Elmore counties, centered on the high summits of the Sawtooth Range. The terrain is defined by a dense concentration of glacial cirques and basins, most notably the Ten Lake Basin and Tenlake Basin near Glens Peak. These high-elevation catchments feed numerous water bodies including Ardeth Lake, Three Island Lake, and the Spangle Lakes.
