Katmai National Park encompasses this entire stretch of the Alaska Peninsula, where the landscape is defined by massive topographic relief and glacial drainage systems. The towering presence of Mt Ikagluik dominates the central terrain, its slopes falling sharply into the valley floor. To the west, the Ukak River flows through a broad alluvial corridor, while the winding Ikagluik Creek carves a path through the northern reaches of the quadrangle. This 2019 survey documents a wilderness largely untouched by permanent settlement, emphasizing the natural boundary lines and elevation changes within the national park system. The map serves as a primary record of this remote geography, capturing the specific intersections of the river systems and the high peaks that characterize the region's protected volcanic and glacial heritage.
