The Savonoski River dominates the central valley of this remote Alaskan interior, winding through the vast protected wilderness of Katmai National Park. The landscape is defined by the braided channels of the river and its major tributaries, including the Rainbow River which flows from the southwest and the northern Hardscrabble Cr. The absence of man-made structures or roads in this 2019 survey reflects the region's status as a preserved volcanic and wilderness corridor.
