About this map

Mount Queets and the Queets Glacier form the high-altitude core of this interior Olympic Peninsula landscape. At the intersection of the Jefferson Co and Clallam Co lines, the terrain is defined by the sharp ridges of the Bailey Range and the headwaters of several major river systems. This 1990 provisional survey documents the glacial hydrology of the region, showing how the Elwha River, Goldie River, and Hoh River radiate from these central peaks. The map records the network of unimproved trails and passes that connect these isolated basins, including Bear Pass and Dodwell-Rixon Pass. Human infrastructure is nearly absent, represented only by the Dodger Point Lookout and a small system of trails used to navigate the high country between Elwha Basin and Queets Basin.
