The upland terrain is marked by notable heights like Dutch Hill and Bunn Hill, which separate the various creek valleys.

Genealogists and local historians will find several well-preserved burial grounds, such as Elm Row Cemetery near Laurens and the Babcock Cemetery located just south of the Oneonta Municipal Airport.
