North Cascades National Park defines the western half of this 1969 field-checked survey, meeting the Ross Lake National Recreation Area along an Indefinite Boundary. The landscape is a complex network of high-altitude drainages, where Stetattle Creek and Big Beaver Creek carve deep valleys between massive peaks like Mt Prophet and Elephant Butte. Primitive infrastructure is limited to a strategic Pack Trail system that connects isolated outposts such as Beaver Pass Shelter and Tenmile Shelter.
