Johnstown and the surrounding high desert terrain are defined by the convergence of the Wind River and Little Wind River in Fremont County. The landscape is a complex network of natural and engineered waterways, where the Le Clair Canal, Johnstown Ditch, and Mill Creek Drain support the high plains agriculture of the Johnstown Valley. This 2012 survey captures the area's geological landmarks, notably the prominent Mule Butte and the nearby Edmo Buttes that rise above the river plains.
