The Tuscarawas River carves through the eastern portion of this Stark County landscape, anchoring the historic settlement of Navarre. To the west, the rural character is defined by a high density of ancestral burial grounds and small hamlets, including Pigeon Run, Justus, and the aptly named Crossroads. Genealogists will find a wealth of data points here, from the Old Lutheran Cem and Saint Clements Cem in the north to the South Lawn Cem near Beach City. The terrain transitions from the elevations of Weimers Hill down toward the Sugar Creek drainage and the reservoir at Beach City Lake.
