Negaunee and the residential area of Beverly Hills anchor the southwestern corner of this Marquette County landscape, where the iron mining heritage of the Upper Peninsula meets a complex hydrologic network. The Carp River winds past the Negaunee Cemetery and over the Upper Carp River Falls before reaching Eagle Mills. To the north, the terrain is defined by the managed waters of the Dead River, featuring the Dead River Storage Basin and the McClure Storage Basin. These basins, along with landmarks like Trestle Falls and Baldwin Kiln Lake, suggest a history of industrial water management and timber transport. Modern infrastructure like the Negaunee Post Office and roads such as Hoist Rd and McClure Dam Rd connect these outlying water bodies to the primary settlements. This 2011 survey captures the balance between the established community of Negaunee and the surrounding forests and reservoirs.
