Negley and the rural surroundings of Red River County are defined by the winding course of the Red River and its complex network of tributaries as they appeared in 2010. The landscape is characterized by a series of small, dispersed settlements including Silver City, Blakeney, and Albion, each connected by a grid of county roads and farm-to-market routes like FM 195. The influence of the river is evident in the presence of Hemmingway Slough and Clear Lake, as well as the drainage patterns of Big Pine Creek and Little Pine Creek.
