The Colville Indian Agency serves as a central landmark in this 2011 survey of the Okanogan highlands, situated just south of the town of Nespelem. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the Nespelem River and its tributary, the Little Nespelem River, which drain a complex network of canyons and plateaus. To the northeast, the waters of Owhi Lake are retained by the Owhi Lake Dam, overlooking the broad expanse of Owhi Flat.
