West Mountain Ridge and Blue Bunch Ridge dominate the topography of this Idaho landscape, where the Payette National Forest transitions into the fertile agricultural lands of Long Valley. This 2004 revision reveals a complex water management system, featuring the Long Valley Drainage District, an Irrigation Canal, and Hatz Reservoir north of Sunflower Flat. Historical traces of early settlement are visible at the Old Fort (Ruins) near the North Fork Payette River. The high country is punctuated by landmarks such as No Business Mountain and its accompanying No Business Lookout Tower, overlooking the rugged boundary between Adams and Valley Counties. Towards the southeast, the terrain softens as it reaches the shoreline of Cascade Lake, crossed by the Hartsell Bridge.
