Norris Lake and other scattered alkaline basins define this section of the Nebraska Sandhills in Morrill County. The landscape is dominated by ranching infrastructure and a sparse network of section roads, typical of the high plains' cattle country in the early twenty-first century. One of the few named homesteads on this survey is the Smith Ranch, which sits isolated among the hills. A single primary artery, Broadwater Rd, traverses the southern portion of the area, providing the essential connection for local commerce and transport. The hydrology of the region is centered on seasonal and semi-permanent water bodies including Kleman Lake and Roach Lake, which serve as vital points for wildlife and livestock in an otherwise arid environment.
