Notch Peak dominates the southern skyline of this high-desert landscape in the West Desert of Utah. The terrain is defined by the steep escarpments of the House Range, where deep drainages like Marjum Canyon and Bird Canyon cut through the limestone cliffs. This 2011 survey records a sparse but storied human footprint, including the remote TheHermits Cabin at the northern end of the range and the Brown Queen Mine tucked into the mountain slopes.
