Nye PO and Limestone PO anchor this high-altitude landscape where the Stillwater River cuts through the transition from alpine plateaus to valley settlements. Compiled from 1932 Army Air Corps photography, the map documents a working wilderness defined by early forest management and resource extraction, visible at the Meyers Creek Ranger Sta and a remote Saw Mill. The southern half of the quadrangle is dominated by the massive landforms of the Stillwater Plateau and Fishtail Plateau, rising toward the heights of Mt Wood and Mt Hague in the Granite Range.
