The coastal convergence of Biloxi and Ocean Springs is defined by a complex network of bayous and islands along the Mississippi Sound. The modern spans of the Biloxi Bay Bridge and Memorial Bridge connect the mainland across Biloxi Bay, linking the city of Biloxi with the historic neighborhoods of St. Martin and Gulf Hills. Extensive protected lands dominate the eastern and northern reaches of the quadrangle, notably the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge and the coastal marshes of the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
