The Columbia River defines the western edge of this landscape, separating the communities of Orondo and Wagnersburg in a region shaped by high plateau terrain and deep coulees. The river here forms Lake Entiat, a significant water feature that dictated the settlement patterns of Douglas and Chelan counties. Rising sharply from the riverbank, the land transitions into the heights of Badger Mtn and the complex drainage systems of Rock Island Cr and Beaver Cr.
