Oxford sits at the foot of the mountains where the valley floor transitions into the high terrain of Oxford Peak. This 2013 survey captures the interface between agricultural valley life and the protected lands of the Caribou National Forest. The landscape is defined by its water management, seen in the irrigation network of Swan Lake Slough and the Oxford Reservoir that supports the nearby settlements of Swanlake and Red Rock Junction.
