1968 Map of Oxford

USGS Topo · Published 1971

About this map

Oxford sits at the base of the Oxford Mountain range, where the high ridges of the Caribou National Forest descend into the Marsh Valley. The landscape in the late 1960s is defined by the critical transit corridor through Red Rock Pass, a geologic threshold where the Union Pacific railroad and Highway 91 navigate the narrow gap near Red Rock Junction. This pass is historically significant as the ancient outlet of Lake Bonneville, noted by a Historical Marker near the pass summit.
