The North Fork Payette River carves the western edge of this landscape, flanked by the Payette River Scenic Byway as it passes the settlement of Big Eddy. This area, situated along the boundary of Valley and Boise Counties, is defined by the high elevations of the North Fork Range and the prominent peak of Packer John Mountain. The interior is heavily marked by the drainage systems of Scriver Creek and Warm Springs Creek, which flow through the protected lands of the Boise National Forest.
