Yeguas Mtn and the northern reaches of the Temblor Range dominate this interior landscape along the border of San Luis Obispo and Kern counties. The terrain is defined by a series of dramatic elevations and arid drainages, including Bitterwater Canyon and the Shale Hills. This area, while sparsely populated, is networked by remote ranching roads such as Mc Cormack Ranch Rd and Bitterwater Rd, which follow the natural contours of the Bitterwater Valley.
