Paint Rock River carves a deep valley through the limestone highlands of northern Alabama, serving as the central corridor for both the Southern railroad and the Lee Highway. This 1997 photo-inspection captures a landscape defined by sharp topographical contrasts, where narrow hollows like Webb Hollow and Kennamer Hollow give way to steep elevations at Bingham Mountain and McCoy Mtn. Local history is deeply embedded in the terrain through a high density of family cemeteries, including Rousseau Cem, Latham Cem, and Flanagan Cem, which mark the early homesteads of the valley.
