Cibola National Forest encompasses the vast majority of this high-altitude landscape, centered on the Gallinas Mountains. The survey provides a detailed view of the infrastructure supporting fire observation and livestock management, with Gallinas Lookout perched atop Gallinas Peak and a complex system of water catchments like the Turkey Cone Trick Tank and Iron-Mine Trick Tank scattered throughout the canyons. Settlement is sparse, represented by the Surrat Ranch in the west.
