Palmdale and the small settlement of Harrisburg occupy a landscape dominated by the subtropical wetlands of Glades County. The area is defined by the winding course of Fisheating Creek, which feeds into the sprawling Cowbone Marsh and nearby Linden Pens Marsh. This 2021 survey shows a region largely preserved through the Fisheating Creek Wildlife Management Area, where human activity is limited to a few arterial roads like Co RD 74 and the residential grid of Palmdale featuring streets like Main Ave and Seminole.
