Trinity Lake defines the northwestern corner of this territory, where the Papoose Arm reaches into the timbered slopes of the Trinity Mountains. This 2022 survey captures a landscape managed by two federal agencies, with the boundary between Shasta National Forest and Trinity National Forest cutting across the high ridges. The terrain is a complex system of drainages including Papoose Cr and its various forks, which have carved deep paths through the Bowerman Ridge and Feeny Ridge.
