Rising at the eastern edge, Parkview Mtn stands as a prominent landmark, overlooking the headwaters of numerous drainages that radiate from the divide. The landscape is split between the northern reaches of the Routt National Forest and the southern slopes within the Arapaho National Forest.

A network of trails, such as the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and the Snyder Creek-Loop Trl, indicates a remote region primarily accessed for backcountry travel rather than industry or settlement.
